I just got back from two weeks in France. Before going, I had done probably 40 days out of 50 on the Wii Fit and EA Sports Active, and had lost a nice 10 pounds, from 185 to 175. Hmmm .... I ate, I drank wine. I mean lots of wine and lots of great bread and rich food. But I walked a LOT during this vacation. I fear weighing myself. Any predictions on the damage I have done? 5 pounds? 10 pounds?|||I'm guessing 2 lbs. Since exercise inceases your metabolism you shouldn't gain the weight back quickly plus traveling you move about more than you think. Heck even airport day is about 1 hour walking if you total it all up. But since we KNOW you pigged out I at least say 2lbs|||YUM!!! It is legally wrong to go to France and not eat like that. It would be criminal not to. My husband had a chocolate mousse for breakfast four days in a row when we were there.
Start a new 30 Day Challenge and get back at it, you'll be fine.|||Here's the amazing thing.
I stepped warily on the scale this morning and ... 171.5!
I lost weight, 3.5 pounds! OK, now I know I can eat Nutella on buttery croissants every morning!
Actually it's probably not really a weight loss -- I'm probably dehydrated after two flights. But still, I didn't gain weight and that iis a great thing.|||Dvdre,
This shows me that you are learning to eat healthy! Even though you splurged you probably were aware of it and were eating healthier the rest of the time. That and the extra activity of a vacation probably kept you from gaining.
I couldn't workout for 4 weeks for medical reasons and I thought I would gain back some of my weight. I actually lost a couple of pounds during my inactivity! Diet made the difference.|||Before heading to New Jersey and New York for a week with my family I had worked out 40 out of 50 days and was expecting to gain weight when I returned. With all the walking that we did in New York for the 2 days as well as trying to talk nightly walks with the family the days while in New Jersey visiting other family both my wife and I returned to find that we did not gain or lose any weight. I am finding that I want to actually eat less and exercise more since I started using Active.
Glad you lost weight on good luck on starting your workouts back up.|||Being active for that long a period before your vacation has helped boost your metabolism and helped you burn the calories you consumed. Now you just have to get back to your routine to maintain that boost!|||should add that I took a month off Active during travel and I also came back to weight loss - another 1.5 down.
Woo~|||Airport day! I love that, CS. It really is a day each way. I'm glad you didn't find yourself set back, Dvdre. Be sure to get right back to it, tho. A number of times I've been pleasantly surprised after a return from vacation, which has led me to ease up on my regimen - you know, just until the jet lag is over, along with the post vac/back to work depression. And every time, it's snowballed into a real set-back situation. I know you won't let that happen -
