POLAR F11 Heart Rate Monitor

Question for those of you using the Polar HRM's. I used my Polar F11 for the first time tonight while doing the first day of my 2nd 30 day challenge (medium intensity this time).
According to the EA Active, the projected calorie burn was 176 and it said I burned 167.9.
My Polar F11 says I burned 492 calories. The weight, height, etc., is the exact same in my EA Active Profile as it is in my HRM.
I am assuming the Polar is a little more accurate since it has the chest strap actually monitoring my heart rate. Are you finding that your Polar shows a higher calorie burn than what EA is telling you? I think that's probably accurate since the EA is not actually measuring your heart rate, it's just based on your age, weight, etc.
I just thought that was a big difference. Thoughts?
Love the Polar F11 by the way, not sure why I waited so long to use it!|||Yes, mine is off as well. The longer the workout .. and the more exercises ... and the higher the intensity .. the more it is off. I believe there to be 2 reasons ..
1. EA active only counts the calories burned while exercising ... so unless you are pausing your HRM in between each exercise (from stop of one, to start of next) then your HRM is counting cals burned in between (which is technically corect).
2. EA active is likely based on the average person (with your height/weight factored in) doing each exercise. I'm not sure how much research they put into determining the 'average' person, b/c it seems to be low for quite a few people when compared to their HRM (and i doubt #1 accounts for all of the diff). Could be that they under-guestimated the cals burned for each exercise.
I also replaced my EA band with one with more resistance, so I'm sure that accounts for some.|||Thanks NB for your input.
I also replaced my band within like 2 days of purchase. The original one was ridiculous as far as resistance. The one I have now is excellent and very challenging, especially on the front shoulder raises, ouch.|||I am sure the HRM is more accurate.
There is a big difference in mine also. So I go with the HRM|||Oh I am sure the HRM is the way to go, especially if it has a chest strap and you keep your weight updated on your profile. I over doubled the calorie count for EA vs HRM on the Marathon Circuit (hard) last week.|||before I injured myself...my ratio was about 3 to 1 on intense workouts(ie ones where I had lots of running). On lower intensities it was about 2 to 1....
as you lose weight and tone up, I would expect the ratios to decrease....
