EA Sports Active

Any one know when EA Sports Active will be added to the list of games so we can register the game code? Thanks in advance.|||I am with you I just want to register my product|||I just registered mine.|||

I just registered mine.

How about sharing the link to it I just went back to the registration page and I still don't see wii active on there
Thanks|||I went to ea.onlineregister.com, created an account and it took me to here.

resistence band in a weight world? compare?

The use of the band is new to me- thought it was a joke at first then was impressed after 1st workout. Curious as to what amount of weight is the band equiv. to? any one with an idea? thanks!|||I've wondered about that too - i want to upgrade to a strong band, but I don't know what this one compares to. There's also Wii Weights that you can buy now where the controllers hook into the weight that look like a WAY better option. But they are only 2 pound weights, which is too light for me.|||I think the EA Active bands are 2 pounds -- definitely less than 5 imo based on tests done with others that have trouble with 5 pound weights. Whatever the pounds of resistance its not enough - I purchased prospirit triple stepper bands from target for about 20 bucks which have 3 bands of resistance (i think 8, 12, and 15) where u can combine a combination of all 3 for up to 30+ pounds. I swapped the handles from the Prospirit ones to the EA Active's so that I can hold the controllers at the same time.|||Well, not sure on the band that comes with Active, but Theraband's red (medium) band compares to the weight world as listed below. I've also listed the comparison for the green, blue and black bands available (online) between the brackets.
25% stretch = 0.7kg (green: 0.9 ; blue: 1.3 ; black: 1.6)
50% stretch = 1.2kg (green: 1.5 ; blue: 2.1 ; black: 2.9)
75% stretch = 1.5kg (green: 1.9 ; blue: 2.7 ; black: 3.7)
100% stretch = 1.8kg (green: 2.3 ; blue: 3.2 ; black: 4.4)
125% stretch = 2.0kg (green: 2.6 ; blue: 3.7 ; black: 5.0)
150% stretch = 2.2kg (green: 3.0 ; blue: 4.1 ; black: 5.6)
175% stretch = 2.5kg (green: 3.3 ; blue: 4.6 ; black: 6.1)
200% stretch = 2.7kg (green: 3.6 ; blue: 5.0 ; black: 6.7)
225% stretch = 2.9kg (green: 4.0 ; blue: 5.5 ; black: 7.4)
250% stretch = 3.2kg (green: 4.4 ; blue: 6.0 ; black: 8.0)
For those of you who still haven't adopted the SI-units (I'm a European myself), to convert these weights into lbs, multiply by 2.2 (or multiply by 2 and add 10%)
The values given are those as listed by Theraband. As said I am not sure how the band provided by EA compares, but I expect it to be similar. For those who need them there are three heavier bands than the ones listed above.

Anyone want to share their custom made workouts?

I'm ready for some new stuff !! Thanks |||I have one that I run at first. Do alot of boxing, basketball, tennis and then dance at the end.
Have all the hard dance in there as I love the dance.
Its 40 minutes long.|||I have created several. I mainly use them as a 15 to 20 minute cool down after the 30 day challange. My favorite alternates boxing and dance with a little basketball, baseball and volleyball thrown in. It is set for 80 calaries but based on how much of a workout I did before I X a few exercises to make my 200 calarie goal and this makes it a little different each time

My feet don't hurt anymore!

I've had trouble with my feet due to having very high arches and a large range of motion in my ankles. Sometimes they would just ache - often in the morning before I even got out of bed.
The aching was worse when I started working out, but I'm on my third 30 day challenge and I just realized - my feet don't hurt anymore. I haven't lost much weight, so it's not that. I think all those muscles are stronger from all the lunges and my whole body is better at doing what it needs to do.
Who else has noticed anything similar?|||I lost 41 lbs so far so that might be part of mine. For me it was my knees. I could hardly walk sometimes becasue my knees hurt so bad after exercising. This is my third challenge and my knees are 90 percent better. I can hardly wait for the new expansion pack.
kathy|||I've noticed a lot less pain in my knees since I started working out. I had a compression fracture of my left knee years ago and lost a lot of muscle tone in that leg. With all the lunges, squats and running it has really helped get some of the muscle back and with the extra support the knee pain is a lot less.

Skipping tutorial/video/instruction screens

Rather than have pauses between exercises in my workout, I'd like to be able to quickly go from one set of exercises to another and by-pass any videos, instruction screens, etc. For instance, if I'm working on the boxing section, I don't want to finish one exercise and then have it put up the screen showing that I have to be using the controller and nunchuck before I get to the next exercise. I know that I do, I don't want to wait/rest or even pause to hit "A" to get to the next exercise. Is there anything in the preferences or any other place to eliminate these screens, tutorials, instruction videos between exercises.
Thanks,
Charlie Seelig|||Hi no I believe there is no setting to by pass video or A button. The video you would have to see at least once on each exercise or new excercise on the new Sports Active More or old sports Active before it by passes video. There is an option for new exercise for those that have gone through the exercise in old Sports Active. What you can do is press A button as you change up into next exercise thats what I do, its not that long before next exercise so you don't really cool down. What you can do is go the custom workout and customize how ever many set you want to do of say the same exercise and zip through them from hitting the A button you will be tired if you do something like cardio exercise.
Believe me that little bit of time you have between workout is not going to take away from your workout. I understand your avoiding the time for a more quick workout than a time consuming workout. One good workout is better than a quick workout. If there is a day where you need a quick workout then you could just uncheck some the workout that will decrease the time of the workout, then later when you have more time do a custom workout.
Keep Fit
Brian|||Hi Brian,
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them out.

Created two GM modes

Created 2 GM modes. One for me and the kid.GM1 and GM2.Both used the fantasy draft.
Now they are the same.Gm1 is the same as GM2?So basically my GM2 mode is the same as the kidsGM1.It's gone.Any answers?|||GerJeff,
You ended up posting this in the EA Sports Active forum which is en exercise/workout game and I don't have a clue what you are talking about!
Let me know what game you are playing and maybe I can move it to the correct forum.

Is this just for women?

Based on all the pictures and the main site - appears this is primarily for women - any thoughts?|||Looking at the list of 30-day challengers, I was wondering the same thing.
I hope that EA reads this forum.
While I've enjoyed following the blogs and tweets on the 30-day challenge site, I think its unfortunate that only 2 of the 12 people participating in the 30-day challenge are male. And both are at least 10 years older than me.
I would have liked to see more male representation so I could get a better idea of how this product could help me.
I'm a 32-year-old Male who wants to lose about 25-30 lbs.
I work a computer all-day and spend time with my 2-year-old daughter and wife when I get home work.
We also have a second child on the way later this year (so this might be of interest to my wife down the road).
Although I try to watch what I eat, I don't really get enough exercise.
My wife and I stuck with Wii Fit for 2-3 months (about 1 month for her), but we saw minimal results and while it was fun, I was really disappointed by it. The board now sits untouched for months (other than an occasional dusting).
EA Sports Active really interests me, but I am hesitant about spending another $60 on it, only to be disappointed again. I wish there was someone in that challenge that better represented me and my situation so I could see that there is some potential here. I guess I'll probably wait and see the reviews once it comes out and then make a purchasing decision.
Thanks
-Brett
|||Hey guys - EA SPORTS Active is definitely for men! We know that there are lots of people (male or female) out there who don't always have the time needed to get to the gym, and this is something that can be used at home, whenever the heck you want!
The workouts can be tailored to your needs - you choose the intensity and trust me, when you choose high intensity - it's a pretty intense workout! I have been doing the 30 day challenge since April 18th and it never ceases to impress me (or kick my butt).
You and your wife will also be able to workout together - which is pretty cool.
Let me know if you have any more questions! Happy to help!
KP|||I posted in the feedback forum, but I agree with the OP. Advertising makes me wonder if it's for men at all.|||Well I'm praying this is not just for women. I pre ordered this. I am desperate to get my weight loss/getting fit jump started. I need to do this. I want to do this. I just need some help..
john|||LOL
I was thinking the exact same thing. All the video blogs i've seen and the ads involve women only. I suppose it doesn't really matter but the amount of DVD's and home exercise technology that's building up in my home is starting to make me think that I should just join a gym. I plan to start with Active, then do Power90, The P90X.
We've got the wii board which my misses uses, and she's got fantastic results from it too.
I, like others, pre-ordered this with a 25% discount coupon that EA e-mailed me for my b-day.
It actually came on time this morning, but I was out for a couple of hours so I don't have it in my possession at the moment.
As time goes by, my main gripe is wether there's enough actual 'Resistance' training in Active. I'm hoping for options where I can do some sort of circuit training and free weight workouts. Activities such as running, Tennis, Basketball etc, etc don't appeal to me on a console. I feel that those types of activities are best, and probably more effective when approached outdoors or within a proper facility.
I will definitely be trying it out tomorrow morning and post some more feedback.
|||I would say no. I am 33 year old male and I did one workout on medium today. I was sweating like mad. I am for anything that is fun and gets you moving. So I would say it is for everyone. It was a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun with basketball and tennis. Looking forward working out tomorrow.|||I just posted a similar message to what Killer just said in a different thread... but I'll echo Killer again: I'm 28, male, normal weight, good health, and medium was a little tough for me today... If you're a guy, I'm sure you will find some use of this thing!|||I am all man... and I did it. But I am way out of shape, and extremely overweight, so I am not the typical male in terms of what they can do or put it through the paces of someone who is in much better shape.
Something tells me though that you can ramp it up pretty hard. There is certainly nothing girly about the exercises I have done so far, and you can tailor your own programs as far as I know, so you should be able to make it pretty intense.
I am tracking my experiences with Active as I progress through it. So if you are wondering, maybe something I talk about would be useful or give you more to question. Link is in signature. Anyways, it does seem like it is very female orientated, but then again I suspect females are by a large margin the major purchasers of things like exercise videos and the like, so that is why they are targeting them. If that is the case they may be missing the mark, because I think most guys will be able to at least use this as a tool to help expand their exercise regime. It is nice to be able to get in a decent workout for 20-30 minutes without leaving your living room, sometimes.
|||After doing two workouts... I agree this is not just for men..
wow
I am sooooo pumped about this. My weight has been creeping up and it has been really bothering me a lot. I just needed something to get me started. This has been it. I'm starting down the path to the new me, who will be a lot like the old me. My goal, lost 50 pounds by september and run in my first 5k in 20 years. I WANT THIS.. and I will get it...
right now my thighs hurt i love those lunges!!!!|||Think about it from a marketing point of view... for the most part, men would rather see women work out, as men are more visual and want to look at something that interests them.
On the other hand, most women, especially ones who are targeted by a home workout as opposed to those that already have a rigorous gym routine set, would rather see a woman workout, as it shows that they can do this too, giving them some motivation.

EA Sports Problem w/squats

Hi - I just got the EA Sports game and when I tried it out I cannot get the squat exercise to work properly. It just doesn't seem to register. It says I'm squating to low when I'm not squating or that my nunchuk is in wrong (but isn't). Does anyone know of what may be causing this? I really don't want to return the cd because I got it from Buy.com and it will be a hassle. Thanks for any suggestions on how to rectify this.|||Maybe you have it too high on your leg. Try adjusting it and make sure the nunchuck is positioned properly. Go back several times and watch the how to video carefully. I had a bad habit of saying yeah yeah I know and going on. Pleas don't return it. My last day is tomorrow and I can really see the difference.|||Make sure the controller is backwards. like in the pic on this topic http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/250359.page|||Thanks for the advice I'll try it and let you know.|||I'm actually encountering the exact same thing ..
I've tried to back up so the remote registers differently,
I've tried moving the leg strap, nothing works.
I feel like I'm squatting too low to get it to register correctly.
Any advice?|||This has happened to me a few time all i did was wiggle my leg slightly then it registers it.
xx|||Hi, When I first started doing the squats I had the same problem. Here's what worked, I actually had the nunchuck in wrong. - Lets say you're facing the TV - the button on the nunchuck should be to your right. If you look at the shape on pouch it will give you a clue as to how it should be placed. Hope this helps. I can't tell you how many squats I did before I figured it out.
Don't give up, keep trying.|||YES!! I have the same problem!! But no matter how I turn the nunchuck I still get a message saying it is turned wrong.
I also have problems with the running exercise... I can run fast and it says I am still too slow. I don't think I could go any faster!!
|||make sure that it's in the pocket correctly, make sure it's not too high on your thigh and fresh batteries help too. I just change my batteries and man am I flying around the track now.|||Had the same problem but have found that pulling the nunchuk out about half-way works! I'm in squat heaven now!

Credit for workout on rest day

I am on day 3 of the 30 day challenge and I worked out on day 2 and didn't know it was a rest day. When I look at my calendar or start todays workout it is not showing that I worked out yesterday, it just shows rest. How do I get credit for my workout yesterday? Can you get credit for working out on a rest day? I am enjoying my workouts and would hate to lose yesterdays workout. Thanks|||I have almost the same problem. I was on Day 3 yesterday and it wasn't even a rest day. Today when I was about to workout I realized that it did not credit my workout. I was so bummed as I did the highest intensity! |||I'm sorry I've never encountered this problem. I workout on rest days all the time and its always given me credit for them.|||After going through some more of the post I think I figured out what happened. I don't think I went through and clicked done after my workout, I think I got caught up in looking at the trophies. I did the workout again today and am looking forward to whats in store for tomorrow. I have a question about the Wii fit board but I think I'll start a new post with it. Thanks for the responses
mama02 I feel your pain, it was very disheartining when I saw that my hard earned workout was not registered.

Does anyone else have trouble reading the messages on these games

I don't have bad eyesite so I should be able to read all the writing on the screen, but I have to walk right up to the television to read anything on the es sports active. I think they should increase the size of the lettering and at least make it black or a contrasting color to the backgrounds. Is anyone having problems reading the messages on the games?

Newsletters

Has anyone ever gotten one of these? I signed up for the newsletters but I have yet to recieve any. It would be really nice to receive one monthly. If not bi-weekly or weekly.|||I signed up for the on-line newsletters and have received several, usually once every couple of weeks. These are for all of EA so every one I have received so far is just about all of their games...nothing on EA Sports Active. I am not a gamer, in fact I only own the Wii and only do fitness titles on them.
So of all the newsletters I have gotten in my e-mail I have given them a quick once over looking for Active stuff and then hit delete when I found nothing.|||Same here. I really don't read them unless it about EA Active.

Cleaning Straps

How exactly is best way to clean the straps so they dont get too stretched out.

NFL Training Camp Users?

I just bought this today. Was wondering if anyone here had it as well.|||I bought it today as well - trying to see where I can use free weights instead of resistance bands with it|||You can definately. I have done P90X and I see a lot of the same moves. I used weights with all of those (Hammer Curls, Bend Over Rows, etc).|||You can definately. I have done P90X and I see a lot of the same moves. I used weights with all of those (Hammer Curls, Bend Over Rows, etc).|||Just go to Wal-Mart and pick up the "Golds Gym" heavy duty resistance bands ($9). Be sure to get two sets so you can square knot them in the middle (for length on those shoulder exercises) and you'll have more than enough resistance...Trust me. That flimsy little green thing they give you is worthless but I immediately picked up red-heavy resistance bands now I'm getting a real workout!

connection has been lost (wii)

i like the circumstance, that you don't need the nunshak anymore and that there are two new sensors...
but's it's really annoying, that the game tells you that the connection to remote control has been lost or connection to balance board has been lost even if you don't need them for the next ten workouts...please fix it at least with ea sports active 2 more workouts|||Agreed, especially when you're in the middle of something as intense as rapid fires, it sucks to have to stop, please fix.

is there a way to pause 9 week challenge?

I've just started phase 3 of the 9 week challenge but will now be gone for close to a month. Is there a way to pause my 9 week challenge so I don't have to start all over when I return?|||Make a note of the dates for your workouts, when you get back set your consoles sytem clock to the desired date and disconnect it from your network (the first of your missed workouts) then do the work out rinse and repeat for the other dates.
Just ensure that you do not load the game UNTIL the system clock has been set to the desired date.|||Wow, what a time consuming and annoying way to resolve that problem...yikes. Well I guess whatever works but EA should build in the function in the next version.|||erm...surely that defeats the whole idea of a '9 week challenge'?
Let's run a marathon...over the course of 2 years. |||you can miss a your workout days and when you're back, just normally continue working out
but i'll take you another month to end your program
for example on the program screen you'll notice at below's options about the following message:
''pending workouts (30)'', so then just fix your missed days and thats it

Leg strap problems PLEASE help

So I got the game as a present from my dad was working fine for a lil while whlst i set it all up and works for whilst i do the warm up then the leg strap disconects and starts diconecting every 2 seconds litrally... I dont know what to do .... ive tryed new batterys and still the same.. |I dont have recipt as my dad brought it and really dont want to tell him its fulty what cabn I do?/|||Try this from the FAQ post in the Feedback and Support forum and see if it helps:
Q: I am having trouble syncing my peripherals with my PS3 or Wii console:
A: Here are a few helpful tips that you can try in order to help resolve the problem:
1) Check to see if the batteries are still charged
2) Check to see if you have the latest system update for your console
3) Unplug the EA SPORTS Active 2 USB adapter from the console and then plug in back in. Try to then sync up the devices again within EA SPORTS Active 2.
4) Hold down the sync buttons on the devices until it syncs up. When the lights have finished blinking then you are ready.
5) If that still doesn’t work, you may need to rebind the peripherals. If you can’t advance past the initial “Connect Peripherals” screen, wait for two minutes or so and an option will appear asking you to rebind the peripherals. Follow the onscreen directions.
6) If you are in the Main Menu you can access the rebind feature by going to Help and Settings from the Main Menu and select “Rebind Total Body Tracking System”.
|||Thank you for that..... ive tryed to rebind and it connects and then I play and it disconnects... its a lil odd... will buy brand ne batterys and try those... is there any kind i should get?? How would I know if i have the latest updates or not??|||Just done updates thats all ok... its only the leg starp that im having probs with changed the batteries over rom the leg strap and the arm strap and still had the same prob....|||If you want to try brand new batteries just get some good Alkaline batteries from the store. Other than that it sure sounds like you have a bad leg sensor. The easiest solution for that is to take it back where your dad bought it with the receipt for an exchange. If you're within the stores return policy date that shouldn't be a problem.
If you are outside that date or you just don't want to bug your dad for the receipt you can contact EA Customer service because there is a 90 day warranty for all of the sensors. I started my 9 week program on hard and I have questions

I can see what i did on my calender but when i finish a workout it doesnt show my progress of completion. I am doing only customize workouts and have my avatar etc. When you do the workout without the trainers routine does this affect your 9 week program? Also my wife does the workout using my sensors but just does it with the trainer and chooses her on length of workout, type of workout and difficulty. Is this messing up my profile with her doing things on it? It is hard to understand how the program operates.
So far i love the excercises and i have been in the gym for 6 yrs doing pretty heavy weight and occasionally did squats to mix up my routine. But now doing the slow methodical workouts from EA active 2 for PS3 has me sweating like crazy. I will give it a 4.5 out of 5 because the tracking is hard to understand and i want more chest workouts. I use dumb bells for my workout because the green band is a joke. I use 15,25 and 35lbs.

Has anyone noticed...

...that their Active likeness talks? Mine does. I think she's swearing under her breath at the trainer because she's made to do jump lunges!
|||Haha! I never paid any attention, but maybe it's mimicking you cursing under your breath at the jump lunges? LOL I will have to watch my Wii person tonite when I'm doing my workout. |||It's kinda freaky! You'll see!
|||I have noticed...I like to carry on full conversations with my likeness it keeps me sane or insane j/k.|||As long as you don't answer back, gr8slickg! Oh wait! I talk back every time I have to do fast kickbacks and jump lunges! They're
|||I thought I saw her lips move a few times!!!!!!|||I notice too, its so funny. |||Does it mean we are talking to ourselves?

New and I need SUPPORT and buddies! Lets do this together!

Hey there! My name is Jenny and Im in Nyc. I got the Wii and the Ea active about a week ago. I started the 30 day challenge but so far Im only into 3 days of it... I got distracted along the way and I need some buddies to be accountable with. Its tooooo easy to walk past the Wii when I come home and relax! Im sure some of you out there can relate! I want to lose weight, but even more than that, I need to get healthy and get off some medications. Only being 33, I dont need to be on blood pressure, cholesterol meds, etc... Its more about health than anything else- but looking and feeling better in my clothes wouldnt hurt!! Lol! Im eating better than ever before- it was a slow progression to more fruits and veggies and buying as much organic as possible, and making delicious green smoothies for breakfast, but its def a start. Hope to hear from you. Im also on aol. Take care.
Jenny (Carrybradshaw1@aol.com)|||I added you too AIM.. mine is Maht07emt (that's a zero)||| Welcome, yesterday was only my second day and I was so sore that I did not want to get up and workout today but I remembered what I wanted in the long run. Today is my first rest day but I am still going to workout on the Wii Fit instead and do yoga and focus on the abs today. It has been a long road coming for me but I have lost 30lbs and still have another 20lbs to go. I noticed a big change in my weight once I started eating healthy. But hang in there and I will be sure to keep you updated with my progress and send you some encouraging words. Take care and stay fit |||KimmyJaneTD I admire you for not weighing yourself until your 30 days is over, I think I might have to join you on that band wagon. I am weigh crazzzy to the point that I want to weigh myself everyday which just ends up frustrating me. What day are you on? Meanwhile take care |||Hi Jenny!
Welcome!
Everyone here is on the same mission so you are in the right place at the right time and it is a very encouraging environment so great to have ya around!
I can totally relate to you wanting to be healthy and leave medication city long behind you.
You have to try to make a committment to yourself NOT to walk past your Wii but instead to turn it on daily. You have already have taken the big step in changing your eating so now just kickstart your metabolism with some healthy exercise! Challenge yourself to do three a week and on your other days take a walk or ride a bike if you have one. Put on some music and just dance around until you work up a good sweat! At this point moving, any moving is going to be good for you and your body. Just like you schedule time for other things...make you a priority and schedule 30-40 minutes out of your day to move it! Trust me though EA active is really fun once you get into it! And build yourself some custom workouts for fun with the dancing, or tennis and volleyball you will be addicted! And if you have someone who can do it with you like your kids if you have them then do that! I promise you will not be sorry. Get pumped, get motivated and get healthy!
|||Thank you all for your encouragement! (and keep it coming! lol!) Bravo to you for your committment to getting fit and staying active!! I am happy to see that you are losing weight with the Wii. I have a gym membership to a gorgeous place here in Ny (LA FITNESS) and I rarely go. My bf wanted to get the Wii anyway coz hes a big gamer, so when I saw the active, it just clicked for me. I was nervous about the Wii not giving me the same results as a gym would, but as I see people losing weight, it must work. I guess every calorie counts, but what got me discouraged, was that I ll do a Wii workout (on easy) from the 30 day challange and be all sweaty, killing myself and its like "burned 117 calories"... Thats barely a cookie!! And I know on the elliptical at the gym or the treadmill, if you are on it long enough with enough intensity you could double or triple my Wii calorie count. Has anyone else had this frustration? My bf tells me to relax coz hes seen me do the Wii workout and Im DEAD afterwards. He tells me that thats the important part, not the cals burned. The next day, I do have more energy and my thighs KILL me. And PS- Ive NEVER run before the Wii... When I did my first workout and the Wii trainer said "Now we're gonna run", I looked around my living room and said aloud "We WHO"??? Lol. I guess every lil bit counts. Have a good day.
Jenny|||Jenny,
Welcome and I'll check in and join you too. Today was my 67 day doing Wii Fit and day 43 on Active. I follow the Eat Clean Deit - check out the web site or google Tosa Reno. I have been doing this since April 25th and to date have lost 19 pounds - 4 inches in my hips, 3 inches in my waist.
I am on my second 30 Day Challenge. I do an hour on Wii Fit - love the yoga, strength training and balance games. The Active I like the leg workouts, resistant bands and running.
Enjoy the journey.
4' 11"
starting weight 131
current weight 112
goal 109|||If you have the gym membership anyway, you can increase the benefit. Journal your gym workouts in the additional activity section - EA Active raves about your effort, which makes it pretty fun.
I think it's ok to disregard or at least downplay the calorie count - I've seen others post that their heart-rate monitors are telling them a different story. And a metabolism revved by exercise is supposed to burn more calories all the time.
Welcome and let's hit it!|||

Thank you all for your encouragement! (and keep it coming! lol!) Bravo to you for your committment to getting fit and staying active!! I am happy to see that you are losing weight with the Wii. Jenny

I wouldn't focus so much on how many calories the Wii says that you are actually burning because you might be burning more that actually is being registered. If your body and your afterburn are telling you that you had a good workout then you did. Something else you can do is to take your measurements vs. weighing yourself because I tend to lose inches faster that the numbers on the scale. Hang in there girl and I so feel you on the thighs killing you |||Jenny,
With regards to the calories burned...FORGETABOUTIT!
The this is totally wrong and only takes into account what they suspect would be the calories burned.
I use free weights for all my squats, lunges and a bunch of other exercises and a heavier band than the one that comes with the Active(which sucks by the way!) and my heart monitor always has me way above the calories burned. In fact for the most part I use it as a gage but that is it. The point it you see and think ok (for those who don't have a heart monitor to go by anyway) I am doing something and I see that it is burning something and that in itself is motivation. Basically for anyone who hasn't been motivated or really active and is just starting out this is a perfect "get up and move it!" tool. You have gotta start somewhere and this for a lot of people is a huge start AND IT WORKS! And it is fun! I was never a volleyball girl but I have finally managed to teach myself to hit those balls over the net and tear up some calories just having fun! Ooh and the tennis! I love it! It has inspired me to sign up for lessons (something I never thought I would have a string of desire to do!)
When I first started working out and trying to change me eating I was like Ugh! This is going to suck! But once I found someone say to me "find things that you enjoy doing so you can stick to it!" I did and I went about finding what type of things made me want to workout. Boxing! OMG! Is one of the best all over workouts! And I enjoy getting out some pint up energy just hitting stuff! You would be surprised how at peace you feel afterwards! And the calorie burn is tremendous! Anyone looking for that something extra would do good to find some place where they offer boxing as a workout! Anyway, not to ramble on but find things that you like and make them part of your program. And keep a variety so you do not get bored! Use the EA Active as a supplement! You already have the gym membership now you have Active...set a goal and hit it! You can do it!|||Think about the calories this way: if you burn 80 or 280, that's still more than what you would have burned by NOT doing Active!

Pre-set workouts

So since finishing the 30 day challenge a couple of weeks ago I've started designing my own workouts and doing some of the preset workouts. I've noticed though that on the preset workouts I never get the option to use the balance board - am I doing something wrong or are there just no preset workouts that use the balance board?

working out on rest day

I just got Wii active 2 and had a couple of problems, but I was also working out on a rest day. Can I work out on a rest day? Will the workout register?
Andrea|||I have not found a way to do the Challenge on a rest day. But yes you can do one of the preset ones or one you set up on a Rest day. Yes it will register.
|||You can still create your own workout or use one of the premade sets. The calories burned and time working out will register on your weekly counter.
I usually like to create my own and go through the ones I think are the most fun and helpful. I'm on the nine week plan, and sometimes I want to workout a certain part that I don't think the plan is hitting on at that moment, so I'll create workouts that help that specific area on my "rest days."

freezing during workout

I have a PS3 version of the workout and when it gets to some of the arm exercises the screen just freezes and says stand still and lower arms. I cannot get it to show the trainer doing any of the exercises. Today I was stuck for 15 minutes until somehow it figured out I was there and continued. IS there any way I can move to the next activity or unfreeze the activity?

Additional Motion Sensors (for multiplayer)

One week until the release of Active 2 and still no word on WHEN we will be able to purchase an additional set of motion sensors for multiplayer.
I have already pre-ordered Active 2 and am very excited about it. However, I do have a family that would like to play via multiplayer and am hoping the additional motion sensors will be available on the release date of the game or earlier.
It's not right to release a game that has multiplayer and were not able to use it right away because extra motion sensors aren't available.
|||We are currently working on getting that info to you guys. I know that extra sets of peripherals will be available through the EA store but I dont know the date of availability just yet. Once I find out I will let everyone know. thanks and apologies for the delay.|||This seems really ridiculous. I have been using ea active since it was released. I bought more workouts on it's launch day and my husband and I work out together. We have been so excited about this launch, but will not purchase until we can play in multiplayer mode. Working out together helps us stay motivated, so I hope that it is available soon.|||Totally get that - working out with someone else helps most people stay motivated. I will let you know as soon as I have more info.|||If you have the Wii console you can buy Active 2 plus NFL training camp and have two sets of controls and two different games!|||Thanks for your help. I do not mean to sound like a complainer, I just have been really excited to buy it and a little disappointed to not get to do it right away. I appreciate the suggestion, would that work for the ps3 console as well? We might want to own both of those.|||Training Camp is only for the Wii. If you want multi-player for PS3, you need to have the additional sensors in an accessory pack. If you want multi-player for XBOX, you need an additional heart monitor as an accessory and the Kinect. That is why everyone is so concerned and asking everywhere (Facebook, various game forums, etc). I was excited about launch day as well, but this kind of took the air out of my sails. I barely talked my wife into letting us get the Kinect and EA Active ($250) so that we could workout together. If rumors are correct, I will need to come up with an additional $60 when the heart rate monitors are available. There is no reason for me to pre-order or buy next week if the additional monitors are not available. I sure wish they would have enabled multi-player on the XBOX (with Kinect) that did not require a 2nd heart rate monitor. I am sure I will get this eventually and the previews look great!|||I gotta admit this is maddening. Its quite frankly completely ridiculous. I should be able to pre-order an extra heart rate monitor at the same time as I ordered the game. Im just so frustrated it unimaginable.|||I agree and apologize for the frustrating situation. Will let you know as soon as I can.|||Hmmm...Only 1 day until the release of Active 2 and still no information on additional motion sensors. Looks like I won't be purchasing this afterall.|||sorry to hear that. Am hoping to update everyone later today or tomorrow.|||I too would like to buy an additional set of motion sensors. It just seems to odd that you haven't got them available at the same time the game is introduced.
It would be super cool if the heart rate monitor could be worn while working out elsewhere and it could be downloaded into the game to keep track of other exercises you do in terms of calories. I know I would pay more for this feature if EA wants to add more value in the future.|||Should I consider myself lucky or unlucky that I really don't have anyone in my life to work out with and thus don't have any need to purchase a second set of sensors for?
On the one hand I'm lucky because I get it at lower cost.
On the other hand... Working out alone, does get quite lonely.
At least you have someone who is supporting you, and even if the other person doesn't have the sensors on as well, that doesn't mean you both can't do the workouts together at first. The sensors help, but it's the actual activity that is most important.
Am I wrong?|||Actually someone else brought up a point. What batteries do the sensors use? AA/AAA? Bizarre watch batteries I have to keep buying every other week?|||the peripherals take AAA batteries which come with the product.

ps3 cardio

hi, i wanted to ask does using a step board during the step routines make a noticeable difference ?
i don't have a step board yet and was wondering if i should get one.|||I don't know if it really helps. I have the ps3 version of EA Sports Active 2 but during step routines I have been using the wii balance board since I am used to doing the step routines that way. It just felt weird having nothing in front of you and it helps as a reference when viewing the moves... especially the grapevine.|||I know that it definately increases the work effort and also the calorie burn. The extra calorie burn may not be registered by EASA but they will come off your body! You will notice an increase in your heart rate and sweat production when you use a step. It is a noticable difference. I use a Reebok step that has height adjustments so you can make it higher as you get fitter.|||ok. thanks.

Maxed Out at Level 60

I’ve completed 211 workouts in EASA 2.0 (Wii), I burned over 41,000 calories since purchasing the game in November 2010 and now the Level on my WEB page is Maxed out and grayed out @ 60, .
I will continue to "Rock 'n Roll" with EASA and hope someone catches up with me.
By the way, I'm still keeping my glucose levels, as well as cholesterol and high blood pressure in check using the wonderful product. Thank you everyone who was involved in writing the program, designing the game, the marketing team, etc. You guys are the best.
NotThePest|||Wow, congrats!
I started using on March 5, and nowhere close to you. I'm only level 11. |||I'm on level 39...almost 40. I could never figure how these levels were used or calculated. I'll let you know when I max out!!|||

I started using on March 5, and nowhere close to you. I'm only level 11.

I was once at 11 and Kranders I too do not know what the heck those levels mean.
|||

I'm on level 39...almost 40. I could never figure how these levels were used or calculated. I'll let you know when I max out!!

Ken does the mysterious level also add in the NFL program? If so, how did you get it to integrate? I'm thinking 'bout getting that one also.
NotThePest|||The integration is seamless. Once I started doing NFL Training camp it started showing my stats right on the screen. I can pull up the tracker section and it will show my effort for the day no mater what program I am using. The "level" goes up no matter which program I am using. It creates a separate "goal" section...so if I pull up the goals it has them for Active 2 and NFL as separate bar charts.
I was pretty impressed by this. I now have Active 2 on the Wii and PS3 and NFL Training camp on the Wii and the online data tracks them all. The only problem I have is that the groups are all separate. The work I am doing in NFL doesn't show in my Wii Active 2 group or my PS3 Active 2 group and my PS3 activity doesn't show in my Wii Active 2 group. It would be nice if it would count no matter which system you are on...or at least between NFL and Active 2 on the Wii.
Just make sure you use the same email and password when you set up the new system/game.|||Great, good to hear. I ordered the NFL and an extra set of Sensors, just in case.

Wii EA Active NFL - Achievements and Afterwards

I think I covered everything EA Active NFL has to offer -- let me know if I'm missing an achievements. I started on December 26 and just finished yesterday (finishing my last custom workout).
* 124 / 124 achievements (btw, you get about 110k propoints for getting all achievements, but its still not enough propoints to buy all the merchandise) [which means played every exercise, every stadium, every trainer, etc]
* unlocked the 8 videos (by getting top score in the NFL activities)
* played all the custom workouts
* played through the 6-week challenge twice in hard mode (without any missed workouts)
* played my own generated custom workouts
* played through a randomly generated workout
* scored top in all point activities (in hard mode)
* unlocked and played as Dieon Sanders
* achieved all 3 goals at least once
I haven't bought all the merchandise as I think you'd probably need to play through the game for 2-3 years before you achieve enough points to buy all the merchandise. But I don't think there is any reward or unlocked feature for unlocking and buying all merchandise.
I haven't played multiplayer -- that's the only thing I can think of that I haven't done.
Am I missing any hidden achievement or feature left untouched?
BTW, having just started Wii EA Active 2 today, I can say that Wii EA Active NFL is more fun (for me at least), as it has a better trainer who's pushing you, has different trainers almost every workout, has different stadiums (so different backdrops) almost every workout, has pro points that you can buy merchandise with and points or times to beat for each challenge which allows you to get more into challenging yourself and monitoring your progress. I just find these perks get you more involved. I'm not saying Wii EA Active 2 isn't as good -- just not as fun, at least on day 1 (hard on 90 day program). Day 1 was a bit repetitive with a lot of repeat exercises of running and skipping over and over -- but I did feel I had more of a workout.
|||
Congratulations!
Agree with you that NFLTC is more fun for anybody who likes football. Like you I've started EASA2 to see what that's about and make comparisons, and so far I'd have to say that the workouts themselves are tougher, more varied and more challenging. But in terms of keeping my interest, NFLTC by mixing it up with different trainers, venues, and themes, makes it easier to stay engaged.
BTW...you unlock videos by getting high scores in what...all of the challenges?
Again, nicely done. Some of those challenges are, well...really challenging. |||

Yep, I like switching up the teams and venues as well. I like how switching teams changes all the colour schemes, venues, trainers etc.
There are 8 videos, 1 tied for each of the NFL challenges. You have to just become top of the leader board for that challenge either in one of the daily workouts or one of the custom workouts.|||Good job!!
I now the most important question, how has this made you feel physically? Lost weight, firmed up, more endurance? Has all that work made you a healthier person? !! |||Here are my results: I ended up losing about about 60-70 pounds, went from a 38" waist to 32". The top graph shows weight loss and which program I was using, and the bottom show how many mins per week spent (rounded) on workouts with the program (calculated total workout time and not EA mins).

It should be noted that at the time I started EA Active More Workouts, I started watching what I ate more, drinking more water, and taking better care of myself. During the entire duration shown on the graphs, I also did other activities such as walking, biking, etc, more so in the summer when the weather was good (hence more results in the summer).
I'm also noticing more muscle formation in the stomach and bicep areas, especially once under 150 pounds. Muscle definition really started picking up with EA Active NFL.|||FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!

30-Day Challenge or pre-built workouts...

Hello, so far the whole family is loving our Active. My question is this... I haven't been active for a long time, and I am in the morbidly obese category (330+ lbs). I started out on the 30-day challenge, and I've found that even the low intensity setting leaves me so tired/sore that I have to add extra rest days in to even be able to start the next days workout. Would it be better for me to stick to the 'easy' custom/pre-made workouts prior to re-starting the 30-day challenge? Thanks in advance.|||Look at the exercises that are leaving you too tired/too sore. You can x those out before starting the workout for your 30-day challenge, and that would be my suggestion. Because then you still get to feel the accomplishment of completing the 30-day challenge, and a great deal of getting fit and healthy is psychological!
Also, add walking to your daily workout routine, as walking is a great full-body workout. I lost 50 pounds in 2007 by doing walking alone! I gained some of it back in 2008, but I'm down 11 lbs from the 229 that I started at on May 10th.
At my peak, I was around 250 pounds, and I'm now down to 218. When I started working out, there were a lot of things that I just could not do. But by gradually working up to things, I'm able to do a LOT more. Now, I'm doing the 30-day challenge on medium intensity, and seriously considering moving it up to hard intensity because I don't feel pushed enough! Even as the 30-day challenge progresses, I'm able to do more and more, and various exercises get easier and easier for me. For instance, the running was so hard for me to do when I first started. I couldn't get through a short run, let alone the long runs. But now, I can do a long run non-stop! And I just got the game May 21st, so the improvement is fast!|||I agree, you'll be surprised at how quickly you gain stamina with the 30 Day Challenge. Go nice and slow and you'll get stronger and stronger. And some extra walking will definetly help - listen to music while you walk, makes time fly by faster and helps you keep rhythm to your steps.
Congrats on starting on your journey to health - from a formerly obese person, I promis you that it's worth it in every way!|||I too am Obese and find some of th exersises a chalenge- i do check some off espeailly the ones that i have to jump. (its too painful to have my oversized stomach lift and fall and hit my body) but i push through- i am finding that it is my lower back that is taking the beating- I have create a few of my own workouts too and they are fun. do what you can- But I have to say-i LOVE ACTIVE.|||I was in the 330+ (morbidly obese) category last year at about this time. That much weight does making following exercise programs more challenging, but back pain and not wanting to be "morbid" when I have a children helped drive me forward. Definitely pay attention to what you're eating--statistically, people who keep food journals lose more weight. Also, consider blogging, like Gwynne or I. It helps me "be good" knowing that others are watching, and it also helps to know others are going through the sane things (and not dying). Good luck! You can do it.
|||Wow! I think you definitely need to just hang in there. You seem like you're so on the right track! Weight has such an effect on body response and stamina. I'm too thin (BMI is 15) and want to use both Wii Fit and Wii Active to build muscle. And we're really both on the same side of the coin weight-wise. I see the issue as controlling it (weight) instead of it controlling you (me). Anyway, because I don't have enough mass to have decent strength, I tire so easily. I didn't intend to ever get like this (do any of us?) but I know for a fact that if I don't eat enough food, and I don't exercise, that my body mass is going to do nothing but head south. My efforts just stink sometimes, but it's been noted psychologically that often times action precedes thought. It's hard to think yourself healthy. But if you keep doing the action, your thoughts will catch up. You'll stop believing you're tired, out of shape, unable to finish etc (I'm talking to myself as much as you). One thing that helps me is to just not weigh myself for 8 or 10 days at a time. I don't know how old you are, but I'm 46, and growing up in the 70's put a permanent "numbers fixation" in my brain. No matter how thin you get, you just can't stand to see the numbers go up. And it really means NOTHING. If you would look at a pound of fat and a pound of muscle, the muscle takes up about 50% less space. So if you have 20 pounds of fat, it's going to look twice as big as 20 pounds of muscle. (And I am going by memory for the exact mass size comparison - it's something I heard in the past.) Go by how clothes fit. Are your "fat" clothes getting looser? (And by fat clothes, I am not implying you're fat; I think we all have fat clothes or eating clothes or skinny clothes etc) If they're fitting better, to me that's a win. Just hang in there and I'll bet within the 30 days, you'll find a totally different world opening up. Give it another 30 and you're talking life style change! Good luck to you. I really found your post inspiring and thank you for sharing.|||Blogging keeps me accountable! I have hundreds of readers on my blog, and I have listeners on my Blog Talk Radio show, and I feel like I have to keep pushing myself to be an inspiration to them! And I'm LOVING it, and LOVING my results!
I'm down 13 pounds in the last 4 weeks alone.
And since starting to exercise daily in February, I'm happier now than I have ever been in my entire life. I've got 86 pounds to go before I hit my goal of 130, but I'm happy with where I am right now, today. Because I'm moving forward.
When I started working out, there were things that I just could not do. Period. My body was just not able to do it. So I'd skip those things for a week. Whether it was Wii Fit, My Fitness Coach, a workout DVD or whatever, I'd just skip that exercise for a week. If it came up during that week, I'd continue to skip it. Then the next week, I'd try it again. And I'd keep doing that until I was able to do the exercise.
And I notice a big difference. I can do a whole lot more now. Heck, when I started exercising, the short basic run on Wii Fit KILLED me. I could not sustain any sort of pace, and would often have to pause to catch my breath. Now, thanks to Active forcing me to run on every workout, I can finish the short basic run on Wii Fit without running out of breath at all! I can do the long run on Active non-stop, and that's a BIG improvement from three weeks ago when I got the game!
You will improve, you will get better, you will lose weight, and as you lose weight, it will get easier. Do what you can do now. Don't let your limitations keep you from doing something!|||Thank you everyone for your words of advice and encouragement! I am loving the Active so far, and will definitely take the advice of checking off some of the workouts that are causing my soreness. I look forward to completing the 30 day challenge and continuing forward with a more active lifestyle. Thanks again!

Sassy Divas 30 Day Challenge - It's ON!

Alright ladies, now that we have the game we are out of exile.
I did my first workout today - medium intensity. Holy inline skating!!! I managed to hit 10 tricks the second time through, but my knees are killing me. Not sure if that's the running or the jumps on the ramps.
How was your workout today?
|||Absolutely fantastic!!
I did the medium intensity as well. My arms & legs literally shook afterward from exhaustion, but I loved it! I think I'm going to try some of the single exercises later this evening once I've rested for a bit.
It was fun just by itself, but I enjoyed it even more when my kids joined in beside me and tried to do the exercises with me!
|||Yeah - I mixed up the running a bit and ran around the room. My 5 yr old followed me for a while. Way fun!|||I didn't end up getting my package until later in the day so I haven't gotten on to workout today. But I did do a 45 minute power-walk this morning which was fantastic! I'll be starting on Active tomorrow!|||Does anyone have a link handy for stretches? I realized after trying to do the squats that I really need to be stretching more.|||http://www.shapefit.com/stretching-exercises.html
Try that! I read somewhere here that someone added a link to YouTube and stretching exercises to the internet channel on the wii. I have no idea how to do that, though. LOL|||I just finished my first workout.I started with the low one, I am out of shape but it was just right for me.Maybe I will be ready for med in a week or so....
Loved the workout, loved how it shows the calories burned, it will make me think twice about eating candy bars, etc....|||starting tonight!! Yay!|||did twice today its was fun, but side lounges my remote just dont follow me : "try agin" my fav Boxing with wiifit did extra 9 minuts now I cant move |||Good Luck to all |||Anyone feeling sore this morning? |||This is so cool!|||

Make sure you're pointing the remote just right. That makes a huge difference. Also, be sure your wii sensor bar isn't sitting on a shiny surface or it can mess up the reception.
I did day 2 this morning! Feeling the burn for sure. The leg strap came off twice today - my experiment with bike shorts didn't go so well. Oh well - back to bare leg under the shorts tomorrow. I got up before everyone else and did 10 minutes of wiifit step and then my workout and then another 10 minutes of step.
I see that tomorrow is a rest day - seems odd to have one every 2 days. I'll probably play some tomorrow and learn some exercises so that things go more smoothly. I don't like how the videos slow everything down, but I understand that they're needed.
Keep working your Sass off, ladies!! |||Yay! Did 1st day last night, with both kids underfoot (I like to think it increases the intensity)
The squats kicked my bootie, and I had trouble with the squats registering - the trainer was mad at me by the end cause it took so long.
Looking forward to today - and yes, having the calorie burner show up will REALLY make me think twice about going out to fast food anytime soon. Sheesh!
Have a great day Sassy Divas!|||I did my first day yesterday, which was when I picked up the game. I started the 30 day challenge on medium and boy can I really feel it in my thigh muscles today. I've got to do some more tonight and I'm wondering whether I'll actually get through it. Yesterday night my legs felt like jelly and I went straight to bed, but I had the best sleep I've had in ages.
I'm looking forward to my session tonight. I'm determined to shed a few pounds as I've put weight on my belly that I can do without. I'm hoping I can stick with the 30 day challenge and I'm hoping I see results at the end of it.
