track lap length

Would anyone know how many laps you need to do in the running to equal a mile?|||no idea, but its a good question. Arent traditional tracks like 4 times around or 8 times around for a mile?|||On a normal track to do a mile is 4 laps
Should take just over minute for average people,|||Standard lap length for a track is 400m ... a mile is approx 1600m .. so as somebody pointed out already it is about 4 laps for a mile ... 2.5 for a km for us Canucks|||But how many EA Sports Active Laps equal a real lap?|||Thanks so much!|||It would be better if someone ran the laps using a pedometer, but I know I tend to burn 115 - 130 calories when I run a mile on a treadmill. I tested this out last night and I think 5 laps is a quarter of a mile. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. This is a guesstimate. Hope it helps somewhat.|||I used a pedometer last night. I did the Run (very long) activity on medium setting. This activity was 5 laps around the track. I averaged 140 steps per lap. The pedometer I am using says about 2000 steps is 1 mile. So by my calculation I would say 14 EA Active track laps would equal 1 mile.
I am going to try and see what it is when I just walk the track instead of running. I will report back when I find it out.|||I did the math a little while ago figuring how many calories it said I burned in a lap verse the number of calories you expect to burn in a mile. I believe it was 1/8 mile per lap, but it might have been 1/16. I'll check again, and hopefully I'll remember to hit this thread again.|||I was actually just coming here to post that exact same question. I hope someone can get us an answer. I would hate to hear that it's 1/16 of a mile around since it kills me to go around more than 3 times .|||tris2cute, I don't know how long you've been doing Active but the running gets better. When I started, I was huffing a puffing like the big bad wolf! After 21 days, it's much easier!
Hang in there, stick with it, and it will get better for you too!|||

I'm only on day 7, but I'm still curious exactly what the distance is. I always wondered on the Wii fit too.|||There is a countdown on the the bottom right of the screen. when doing run (Long) its at 250 which is 2 1/2 laps I have taken this to mean 250m so a lap is 100m? Can't think this is right though cos after 1 lap I'm knackered but I agree with the previous post it does get easier the more that you do it.
Would be good to know though|||Based on the calorie info, its 1/16 mile per lap. Here is how I came to that conclusion. For my weight (220lbs) most information would suggest apx 160 calories burned running a mile. EA shows me burning 10 calories per lap, so 160/10=16 laps to burn 1 miles worth of calories.
I find this really sad, as just 1.5 laps is killing me. I used to run between 10 and 20 miles a day....guess too many days behind a desk. Gives me something to shoot for anyway.|||

Doesn't that counter for a long run show 2.50, not 250? I always thought it was simply a lap counter, because when you're under 1 lap, it shows (for example) 0.50.
I'm not sure how long the lap is in terms of real life distance. I suppose you could estimate it based on calories burned, as ShibaRu did, or by time as I think others said. The action of running in place is clearly different from real running though, so I'm guessing these types of calculations may not be very accurate. I'm not certain EA intended the Active lap to translate directly into a real life distance. But perhaps I'm mistaken.
