I was wondering if anyone out there has any eating tips or links that i may be able to look through to get a idea on a meal set up that i can work with. I am tossing out alot of the junk, (chips seem to be my weakness) but i know i dont eat as right as i should and as id like to.
Any help would be super. thanks in advanced.|||You can get a free diet plan at http://www.sparkpeople.com which will take into account your weight and activity level. You can even get one with "meal plans" if you need that level of advice. It is not based on a "fad" or "crash" diet. It is good, sound advice about getting healthy in a way that helps you STAY that way. There is also a "team" there for folks who are using EA Sports Active to get more fit and lose weight. It's a fantastic community, very supportive and motivating.
There is a registered dietitian around as well as several coaches / personal trainers. They frequent the main forums, and you can also send them "spark mail" to ask questions.
Best of all the whole site truly is 100% free. There is no "premium" section for paying members only.
Here is what the founder has said about why he started the site and why it is so important to him to keep it free for everybody:
This site really is free– with no strings attached. Over 5 million people have joined SparkPeople to lose weight and make healthy lifestyle changes.
SparkPeople can be free because my wife and I were very early eBay employees and are now using our earnings from its success to make the world a healthier place. This is our way to give back and help the world. Thousands of new people join every day and don’t pay a single penny. In fact, the majority of our new members join SparkPeople after hearing about us from their friends.
SparkPeople is an easy program to follow – you can choose whatever pace fits your lifestyle. People tell me every day that this site has changed their life. I’ve seen it happen so many times that I know you could be next!
Sorry if I sound like an infomercial. SparkPeople has truly helped me get control of my life again, and I just can't stop recommending it to people!
Anyway, congrats on taking these first few steps towards your goals!
PS, here's a direct link to the EA Sports Active team
http://teams.sparkpeople.com/www.easportsactive.com|||Hi -- this is Jennifer James, one of the 12 challengers in the 30-Day Challenge. I was able to lose 25 pounds in a month using EA Sports Active by doing a few things: Working out really hard with EA Sports Active (30-day challenge workouts + customized workouts + brisk neighborhood walks) and cutting my calories.
All of us challengers were quite lucky because we got a chance to meet Bob Greene, Oprah's trainer, before we started and he gave us great tips on how to eat healthy. You can find a lot on his web site http://www.thebestlife.com about healthy eating. Before we started he said there are six things that everyone should cut out of their diet if you want to jumpstart your health:
1) sugar
2) transfats
3) whole milk
4) alcohol
5) refined flour
6) fried foods
While I didn't cut any of these out 100% except for alcohol, I cut them back considerably and it worked for me.
Good luck! Keep us updated with your progress.
Jennifer James
